Ahi tuna is a great treat that is packed full of healthy benefits. Besides being a good source of protein, ahi tuna also offers heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins like B12, and magnesium, all of which are great for your heart and overall health. Ahi tuna salad can be a delicious dish that you can make in order to incorporate this fish into your diet and reap all of its benefits.

Instructions

1. Mix the garlic powder, onion powder, lemon zest, fresh crushed black pepper and sea salt in a small bowl. Make sure to leave a pinch of lemon zest and sea salt aside for the dressing.

2. Brush the tuna steak with ½ tablespoon of olive oil, sprinkle on the seasoning mix and rub it in gently with slow, circular movements.

3. Make the dressing by mixing together the lemon juice, agave nectar, olive oil, and finely chopped ginger. Add a pinch of lemon zest and sea salt.

4. Spray the skillet with a coat of cooking spray and put it on the stove on high heat. Place the tuna into the skillet and lower heat to medium-high. Let tuna sit for about two minutes to sear one side, then flip it over and sear the other side for about three minutes. Don't move or poke it, and remove it immediately after searing.

5. Put the fresh baby greens into a bowl and add snap peas, diced scallions, and grated carrots. Sprinkle about a tablespoon of dressing onto the salad and add a teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds to finish.

6. Slice the tuna, at an angle, into small slices, about ½ inch wide, and lay them neatly atop the salad next to each other.
