In today's world of high-speed Internet, buying wine direct (from a wholesaler) can seem a daunting task, not because of a lack of information or because it's difficult to figure out do, but merely because of an overwhelming number of choices. There are direct-buy websites in abundance that offer wholesale prices and operate out of one region, or offer wines from a collection of different areas. You are limited only by your preference in wine. The sites offer full contact information; if you are uncomfortable doing business electronically you can call them directly, and in some cases schedule personal consultations. Some sites don't accept purchases themselves, but direct you to wholesalers. You also can buy in person.

Buying Online
1. Do your research. Find which wines suit you and your purposes best. This will cut down on your search time dramatically when looking for wholesalers. Searching for wine by region is probably the quickest way, as sites are organized in this fashion.
2. Go online. Search for "wine direct" or add your region of choice, "wine direct Israel," for example.
3. Search the sites that come up for information about the company. Look at their "About Us" sections, and if you're satisfied move on to their wines, and "Buy" sections.
4. Note any questions or concerns you may have, contact them and ask or comment.
5. Choose your wine. Purchase using instructions on site.
Buying in Person
6. If you have access to an area that sells wine, one way to buy wine directly is to go to a winery. Or Use a book like Oz Clarke's Pocket Wine Guide 2009, which has a section listing wine producers, to find contacts.
7. Ask to speak with a manager or proprietor of the winery.
Ask if they have any overstock. If a winery is willing to sell their wine discounted from retail, it is usually unlabeled overstock.
8. Ask them to direct you to wholesale vendors in the area that specialize in the type of wine you like. If they want your business they will offer you a discount, or they will give you the information you are looking for.
