Store Potatoes In The Refrigerator

Refrigerate your remaining seasoned potatoes for up to five days.

Even if you love homemade baked or roasted potatoes, you may be less enthusiastic about the painstaking washing, peeling and chopping process. Raw potatoes store poorly in the cold of a refrigerator, developing a sweet taste and turning dark when you cook them. However, you can enjoy superbly seasoned and roasted or baked potatoes every day by storing the cooked dish in the refrigerator for up to five days.

Instructions

1. Season and cook or bake your potatoes. You should refrigerate cooked potatoes within two hours of baking or cooking for optimum consistency. Choose a block of time during which you can prepare, cook and wrap the leftovers.

2. Cool the cooked potatoes before packaging. Hot potatoes will release steam inside the container, creating excess moisture and giving them a crumbly, watery consistency.

3. Empty your cooked potato halves or chunks into airtight containers. Refrigerating your potatoes in a porous or loosely sealed container causes a gelatinous, chunky consistency.

4. Place your container of potatoes in the refrigerator. Choose a shelf away from the cold air vent to avoid accidental freezing. Consume your savory spuds within five days.
