Cheese stains can make their way onto your clothing, upholstery, carpet, and other home surfaces. Whether you are dealing with spray cheese, hard cheese, or a soft cheese such as cream cheese, the stain can be frustrating. Cheese stains come in a variety of forms, but you can handle them all with a simple cleaning procedure.
Instructions
1. Scrape all solid pieces of cheese off the stained area. This step is especially important on surfaces such as carpet, where the cheese is more likely to be ground into the material.
2. Combine one teaspoon of a mild liquid detergent with one cup of warm water. Mix well.
3. Blot the stain by using the detergent mixture and a clean white cloth. Make sure that the liquid completely covers the stain and that the liquid is absorbed into the stained material. If you are dealing with a fabric stain, you can now launder as usual. If you're working on upholstery or on a carpet stain, proceed with the following steps.
4. Combine a tablespoon of household ammonia and half a cup of water. Blot the stain with the solution and a second clean white cloth (or a clean portion of the first cloth).
5. Blot the stain with the detergent mixture again. If this does not completely remove the stain, continue to blot, alternating the detergent mixture and the ammonia solution, until the stain is gone.
6. Soak a sponge in clean, cold water and blot the stain to remove traces of the first two cleaning solutions. Blot with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture, and allow to dry.
