Do Cinnamon Apples On Sticks Over A Campfire

Use dowels or sticks to roast apples on a campfire.

Camping is a cherished outdoor activity for the summer. Camping does not mean you have to rough it foodwise, because there are many delicious and fun recipes that can be made on the campfire. For example, you can prepare a delicious (and nutritious) dessert by making cinnamon apples on the campfire. The apples are roasted, rolled in sugar and reheated until the sugar forms a glaze on the apples. This is a fun activity for children, but they need to be supervised by an adult.

Instructions

1. Remove the apple stem, and press a dowel or stick through the top of the apple, ensuring that the apple is securely attached to the stick.

2. Hold the stick 2 to 3 inches above the fire. The skin should begin to brown as the apple roasts, and juice will drip out. Turn the apple regularly to ensure that it is evenly roasted.

3. Remove the apple from the fire when the skin appears loose. Let the apple cool on the stick. When the apple is cool enough to be handled, peel the skin from the fruit.

4. Mix sugar and cinnamon together, and roll the apple in the sugar mixture until the apple is thoroughly coated. Hold the coated apple over the flame again, and heat the sugar until it has melted to form a glaze.
