Make Fresh Floral Arrangements

Fresh flowers add beauty, texture and fragrance to your home environment when arranged in various ways. You can use your own flower blooms, or even purchase fresh cut flowers to create intricate ornamental arrangements for any use or occasion. Whether you're decorating your home or giving a special gift, making floral arrangements from fresh flowers isn't difficult and gives you the ability to express your creativity.

Instructions

1. Look for an appropriate base for your arrangement such as a vase, fishbowl or even an aluminum gardening bucket depending on the look you want to achieve. Choose it depending on the size of the area it will decorate, and according to the colors of flowers you have chosen.

2. Obtain a large number of small-blossomed flowers to serve as a filler base for your arrangement. For instance, if you're using a 10-inch-tall aluminum garden bucket as a base, select 12 to 24 baby's breath sprigs. Other small blossoms include shasta daisies or tea variety roses. Snip the bottoms of the stems of these flowers to ensure that they fit evenly in the base. Stick them into the base.

3. Arrange six large-blossomed flowers to serve as focal points. Coordinate these flowers to fit with a color scheme or other theme you are trying to achieve. For instance, if you have an aluminum bucket base full of frilly baby's breath, select six sunflowers to create a sunny and bright arrangement. Insert these flowers into random parts of the arrangement, to give texture where you like. Do this after cutting the ends of the stems to ensure that they fit in your base.

4. Insert two pieces of attractive foliage to add embellishment to your fresh arrangement. Fresh foliage pieces include fresh eucalyptus, fern fronds or even ornamental grasses.

5. Embellish your base by tying a silk ribbon bow around it, or simply leave it as is. Other optional embellishments can be shiny baubles inserted into the arrangement like glitter-coated pipe cleaners that have been twisted into shapes.
