Seal A Chip Bag

It's only a matter of time before these chips become stale.

If your bag of chips doesn't come in a self-sealing container, keeping chips fresh after you open the bag can be challenging. Even though you roll down the top of the bag, somehow air seeps in, making your salty treats taste stale the next time you dive in for more. You can seal your bag of chips several ways without using a fancy gadget or tool. Simple household items can be used to keep your bag of chips securely sealed and fresh.

Instructions

1. Roll the top of the bag downward until it meets the remaining chips. Maintain chip freshness by sealing the bag as close to the chips as possible, squeezing out remaining air. If the sides of the bag fan outward, tuck them underneath the roll when you get to the end.

2. Flatten the rolled top of the bag to accommodate a chip clip holding device. Flattening the top also keeps the top of the bag secure. Use the palm of your hand to smooth and flatten the top of the bag or try rolling the top closed using a rolling pin.

3. Clip or secure the top of the bag to seal the chips. You can use a variety of items to keep your chip bag closed. Chip clips are one of the preferred methods to seal bags, however if you don't have a clip handy you can use a large paperclip, clothespin or office binder clip to do the job.

Other, unconventional ways to seal the bag include using masking or transparent tape or laying the bag of chips on its side and keeping it closed by laying a book or heavy item along the top. You can also use a large sticker to keep the bag closed.
