1. Contact your local flea market and apply to be a vendor. Fill out the proper paperwork and agree to the fees.

2. Select a date to sell your first batch of homemade butter. When booking at the flea market, ask about location within the market, any fees and where the garbage facilities are.

3. Purchase all the supplies you will need to make your homemade butter. Buy enough jars to cover any batches that you want to keep at home as well as sell. Buy jar labels to label your homemade butter with your own name and contact information.

4. Make your first batch of homemade butter. A batch should be at least one dozen. Then make a half-dozen jars of homemade butter as backup just in case you sell out.

5. Write up or print a flyer announcing what you are selling, the prices and your contact information. You may also want to design a banner with the name of your homemade butter. Place the banner over the booth or on the table as you are setting up at the flea market.

6. Box up your batches and pack your car or truck with any other supplies you will need for your first day at the flea market. Take along a cooler with ice to store the homemade butter just case the flea market is to warm. Make sure you have labeled each jar with a creative name for your homemade butter and your contact information. Next, visit a bank and exchange any large bills you may have for $1 bills so you can make change.

7. Arrive early at the flea market. If you haven't been assigned a booth, ask the manager of the flea market. Try to get a booth that is close to a fan or is in the shade. You don't want the homemade butter to get warm. Some flea markets don't reserve spots---so in order to get good positioning, you have to arrive early. Set up your jars, advertising and your extra stock. Be ready to go when the flea market opens.
