Tie The Legs When Deep Frying A Turkey

Imagine pulling out a turkey that is golden all over at your next Thanksgiving gathering. Nothing beats a deep-fried turkey, which is ready in less than an hour. With a wire hanger and some thick cotton twine, you can deep fry a turkey like a pro.

Instructions

1. Purchase cotton twine. Do not use a plastic or wax coated twine, which will melt in the oil.

2. Rinse the turkey under cold water, and pat it dry with paper towels. Place the turkey on a level surface.

3. Cut a piece of twine long enough to wrap around the turkey legs several times. A good amount to work with is 2 1/2 feet of twine.

4. Tie the twine to one turkey leg, and knot the twine.

5. Wrap the twine around both of the turkey legs, wrapping the twine around each leg four or five times. Bring the end of the twine up between both legs. Finish with a secure knot and cut off the excess twine.

6. Place a metal hanger through the turkey or use a commercial turkey holder to lower the turkey in the hot oil.
