Make Wine Rack Displays

Make Wine Rack Displays

Appreciating and enjoying wine is living well. Celebrate your passion for wine with a properly assembled display of your bottles. Your choice of wine racks has to be both functional to your collection and appealing to the eye. Several attractive wine rack options are discussed in the following steps.

Instructions

1. Whether the display is in your home or business, the major driver behind your layout is going to be the physical space you have available. The smaller the space, such as an apartment or cozy bistro, the more sensible to elevate the wine off the ground in a wall mounted solution. This vertical wine rack is a creative and practical solution for a small space. It is also fitting for the smaller collector as vertical racks have less bottle storage ability.

2. If you have a large champagne collection, why not display the bottles in the same manner that they are stored during their production? Pictured here is a French riddling rack. Champagne bottles are stored in riddling racks during production to collect sediment against the cork, which is later extracted. These racks will work wonderfully in a basement wine cellar or near a storefront window. Oak riddling racks are available on line, www.jpeterman.com has a very nice aged oak riddling rack for $200.

3. Diamond bins are extremely attractive and are an excellent solution when you are storing many bottles of the same vintage together. The diamond shaped bin allows for maximum bottle density. However, it is cumbersome if you store a variety within the same bin as you will have to pull several bottles out to get the one you are looking for. A pleasing solution to this can be found in the next step.

4. Putting together vertical bins with diamond bins is a visually pleasing display with great functionality. You will be able to store a couple cases of wine, some of which can be ear marked for house warming gifts and dinner parties, in the diamond bins. Your select bottles will be placed in the vertical bins.

5. Back lit wine racks are a fabulous and sexy way to display wine bottles. Naturally, this kind of display most suited for a commercial application, unless you have the budget and space to do this in your home. Let me briefly explain how this effect is accomplished, it is relatively simple. Small niches are recessed between wall studs, which house vertical fluorescent tubes. The sheetrock is painted white and then semi transparent, white Plexiglas is fastened to the back of the wine rack. The wine rack is then mounted into place against the wall. Switch on the fluorescent lights and voila!
