Cook Fried Potatoes

A fried potato recipe easily adjusts by using more or fewer potatoes.

Fried potatoes are versatile, make a tasty addition to breakfast, lunch or dinner. Pair them with bacon and eggs in the morning, or steak with a side of vegetables in the evening. When it comes to cooking fried potatoes, simplicity is king. Very little kitchen savvy is necessary to whip up a batch to grace your table with this classic favorite.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Pour cooking oil or bacon grease into a skillet or wok so that it just covers the bottom of the pan. Preheat oil to 365 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. Slice the potatoes into quarter-inch thick rounds.

3. Season the potatoes to taste with salt and pepper or seasoning salt.

Cooking

4. Add potatoes to the pan spreading them out in a single layer.

5. Stir often and flip potatoes with a spatula as they begin to turn golden brown.

6. When nicely browned on both sides, check for tenderness. Potatoes are done when they are golden brown and fork tender.

7. Serve plain or with ketchup, fry sauce, honey mustard, or ranch dip.
