Quick & Easy Healthy Snacks To Make With Children

Healthy snacks are fun for children to make.

Feeding your child healthy food as she grows will reduce her risk of obesity and weight-related diseases later in life. A healthy diet for your child requires both well-planned meals and snacks so she does not fill up on sugar-packed treats. Providing your child healthy snacks does not require you to spend hours preparing her food. You can make several healthy snacks, and include your child in the preparation, in less than 30 minutes.

Apple Ladybugs

Apple ladybugs are a healthy snack you can make with your child. Core a red apple and slice it in half. Set it onto a plate with the rounded portion facing upward. Let your child poke two pretzel sticks into the front of the apple -- these are the antennae of the ladybug. Provide your child with peanut butter and brown or black chocolate candies. Let her stick the chocolate candies to the apple's exterior with the peanut butter to create its spots. Once finished, allow her to eat the apple ladybug in whatever manner she chooses, or chop it up for her with a knife.

Lunchmeat Wraps

Lunchmeat wraps are easy, healthy snacks to make with your little one. Lay a tortilla on a plate for your child. Provide her with lunchmeat, sliced tomatoes, lettuce and light cheese to place on the tortilla. Top the ingredients with one serving of Italian dressing for flavor before wrapping it up like a burrito to eat. If you prepare all the ingredients prior to snack time, your child can make the wrap without assistance.

Fruit Salad

Chopped fruit and yogurt salad is a sweet, healthy snack for your child to indulge in. Chop up her favorite fruit and put it into a bowl. Spoon one serving of low-fat yogurt on top of the chopped fruit and serve it to your child with a fork or spoon. Let her mix the yogurt into the fruit. Alternatively, keep the yogurt and fruit separate and allow your child to dip the chopped fruit in the yogurt. If your child likes the yogurt mixed in, freeze an extra bowl of the snack for a cool summer treat.

Bagel Pizza

Bagel pizzas are fun, healthy snacks for your child to make and eat. Provide her with bagels, pizza sauce, light cheese and shredded chicken or turkey pepperoni slices. Let her spread the pizza sauce onto the bagel with a plastic knife and sprinkle cheese over the top. Encourage your child to arrange the meat topping on the bagel and place it onto a cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. Allow the bagels to cool for five minutes before them serving to your child. She can eat them in halves or put two halves together to make a pizza bagel sandwich.
