Find The Best Supermarkets In Manhattan

Manhattan is probably the most urbane and sophisticated place on the planet. After all, when one thinks about a metropolis, visions of Manhattan's skyscrapers are the first things to come to mind. The great thing about living in Manhattan is the options, especially when it comes to food. Whether you're looking for ethnic food, organic food, or just grocery shopping in general, you can get what you need in Manhattan.

Instructions

1. Shop at Food Emporium in Union Square. This is one of your best options in the Union Square area for grocery shopping. Food Emporium is open a glorious 24 hours a day, has an excellent selection of food, and a great staff. The location cannot be beat. Whether you work around here, or play around here, this is a great quick place to pick up some groceries after a long day. Also be sure to try out the wonderful prepared foods section.

2. Check out the Bridge Market on 59th Street! This Bridge Market is actually a Food Emporium supermarket, but has the distinction of being located literally right under the 59th Street bridge to Queens. The recently redesigned supermarket has a great selection of gourmet and organic food items, and the bakery selection is excellent. This is a great place to go if you're looking for healthy food or food with a more European slant. The dairy selection (especially the cheese) is also notable.

3. Stop by D'Agostino on York Avenue in the Upper East Side. This is a relaxed supermarket in a nice neighborhood. The store is on the smaller side, but what it loses in quantity it makes up for in quality. This is a great option for general grocery shopping as well as gourmet food shopping. You can get your normal supermarket items such as Pop Tarts as well as your organic mangoes. Also, the service here is great.

4. Do your grocery shopping at Balducci's on West 14th Street. This is probably one of the most elegant and sophisticated supermarkets in all of New York City. There is an excellent variety of fresh produce (probably the freshest and highest in quality in the entire city) as well as great prepared food and bakery items. The staff is very amiable and knowledgeable, and Balducci's provides the customer with a peaceful and tranquil shopping experience.

5. Shop at Whole Foods in Union Square. This extremely large healthy food supermarket is located in the middle of all of the Union Square action, on Union Square South. This is a great place to go to get a large variety of healthful and unique groceries. The hot prepared foods selection is great, and you can choose from anything from exotic Indian and Chinese cuisine to all-American standards like sandwiches and Caesar salads. This is another place with an excellent produce and meat selection as well.
