Ten Minute Dinner Ideas

Ten minute meals will give you more time to spend with your family.

Who wants to come home from work and slave over a hot stove? Save yourself some time in the kitchen as well as hassle with the family by preparing meals that take ten minutes or less. Not only are these meals quick and easy, but they are sure to be a hit with any age and can all be customized. The less time you spend cooking, the better, as well as eliminating the need to factor in each and every family member's specific tastes.

Stove-top Quesadillas

Cooking quesadillas on the stove-top can cut your cooking time down by quite a bit. After you crisp up your tortillas in a greased pan, you can add any ingredients that you want. In addition to the cheese, you can add onions, olives, jalapenos, canned chicken, green peppers, or maybe even corn. Each family member can customize their own quesadilla. Once the ingredients are placed between the two tortillas, it only takes a matter of minutes for the cheese to melt and the ingredients to cook within the quesadilla. Don't forget to flip your quesadilla for even cooking throughout.

Stir-fry

Use frozen vegetables for a quick and easy stir-fry. Rather than using fresh vegetables that take a long time to prepare, buy multiple bags of frozen vegetables to mix together for a quick, customized stir-fry. If you like typical stir-fry vegetable mixes, you could even buy an already assembled frozen stir-fry mix. Add protein and a sauce such as soy sauce, hoisin sauce or a specialty stir-fry sauce. To shorten the amount of cooking time, use precooked or canned meat. Canned or frozen shrimp, chicken or beef are great additions to any stir-fry. Combined with 5-minute rice, you've got a full, nutritional meal.

Pita Pizzas

The whole family can have their own individual pizzas topped with whatever they want; a quick meal solution as well as something that will make the whole family happy. Lay out all possible pizza toppers--onions, mushrooms, olives, peppers and pepperoni--and let the family top their pizzas as they wish. They can each control the amount of sauce and cheese on their own pizza as well. Once the pitas are topped the way everyone wants their pizza, cook for 5 to 7 minutes in a preheated 450 degree F oven. It is quite possible, too, that you have all of the needed ingredients for pita pizzas already in your refrigerator or pantry. If you don't have pitas, use bagels or English muffins.
