Easy Christmas Party Appetizers

Easy Christmas Party Appetizers

Throughout history, an appetizer was a small portion of food meant to stimulate the appetite before the main course. These easy Christmas-party appetizers will do just that, and you won't have to spend your entire day in the kitchen preparing them.

Nuts and Salsa

Roasted chestnuts have been a Christmas favorite for many generations--and for good reason. These nuts have a sweet flavor. Roasted chestnuts taste nothing like a typical nut but more like a miniature sweet potato. Roasted chestnuts are easy to prepare. Start by piercing each nut in the center and laying them on a baking sheet. Roast the nuts for about 20 minutes and serve. Roasted chestnuts are best when served warm but are a delicious snack anytime.

Santa Salsa is also sure to be a hit at your next Christmas party. This salsa may make your guests think you worked all day in the kitchen making it. In reality, it only takes about five minutes to prepare. All you need are diced mangoes, chopped cilantro and a jar of pepper marmalade. Mix everything together in a glass bowl and serve with baked or tortilla chips.

Salads

Christmas party salads always seem to be a favorite, but one salad trumps them all--the cranberry salad. Cranberry salad is as delicious as it is beautiful in its presentation. This easy Christmas-party appetizer is sure to impress your guests and only takes a few minutes to prepare. Put some salad greens, cranberries, walnuts and a little feta cheese in a glass bowl and drizzle a homemade dressing of extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, honey, mustard and pepper over the top. Toss to blend the dressing throughout the salad and serve.

Sweets

When thinking of easy Christmas party appetizers, one thing that comes to mind is traditional chocolate fudge. Put a new spin on an old tradition by using white chocolate instead of the regular variety. Add a little Christmas festivity to your white chocolate fudge by setting aside two small bowls of the still-warm fudge mixture. Add green food coloring to one bowl and red to the other, and mix well. Pour the remaining white fudge into a pan and spoon dots of the red- and green-colored chocolate on to the top. Run a knife through the fudge to swirl colors around. Let the fudge cool, cut and serve.
