Genie Open - Limit Switch Problem

I have a Genie Brand opener. It operates fine, BUT the door is pushing past the limit switch on the rail and consequently opening too far. What can I do? Where do I start? Is it switch failure or is there some kind of adjustment? Thanks Check the switch first..I'm not sure if it makes or breaks when the lever arm is pushed. Do you have a multimeter? EDIT: Just checked mine, has a single wire connected to switch which grounds out to rail when lever is pushed. Could be as simple as a bad connection or broken wire. Thanks. I don't have a multimeter....loaned it out and that was the last I saw of it. I will check the wire after work. That was my first guess (or hope). I am open to ther suggestions to if you have any Well, If you can do it safely w/o getting knocked off the ladder..... Just take the wire off the switch and ground it to the rail as the door is going up. It doesn't have any dangerous voltages on it. If the door stops, the wire and logic board are good. Then you can check to see if the switch is making good contact with the rail and if it is working correctly after you get a new meter. Could be as simple as tightening the screw that clamps to the rail, or cleaning the contacts on the switch. This does have the lever style switch not the magnetic right? Take a piece of fine sandpaper or emery cloth and polish the fixed copper contact and the copper leaf that touches it when the door closes. About an annual event here. Replacement switches run $ 9 - $14 depending on whether you get them from a dealer or the Internet. Be gentle, the plastic arm seems to get brittle after a few years. Good stuff fellas. Thanks. I'll give the suggestions a try. Yes, this is a lever not a magnet. This worked great. Thanks. I cleaned the contacts like you said. Tightened the screw and made sure the wire connection was tight. Also just to make sure, I spread the copper contacts out just a little as it seemed compressed. All of the above added up to it working great after a total of 10 minutes of effort. Thanks again.
