Cook A Roast In A Slow Cooker

Learn cook a beef roast in a slow cooker with savory vegetables, from beginning to end. This recipe is ideal if you don't have a lot of time to make a healthy meal. You can substitute other vegetables, if you would like a different flavor. These instructions are very basic, and allow you to add other herbs and spices, depending on your preference.

Instructions

1. Slice the potatoes, carrots and onion. Slice the vegetables thinly, to ensure they will be completely cooked when the roast is done.

2. Rinse the beef roast and pat it dry with a clean paper towel. Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the meat.

3. Put the vegetables loosely on the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the seasoned beef roast on top of the vegetables and add water or beef broth.

4. Cover the slow cooker and cook on "high" for six hours, or "low" for 10 hours. The "low" setting will make the roast more tender.

5. When the beef roast is done cooking, the meat and vegetables will be very tender. Remove the roast from the slow cooker and place it on a platter with vegetables, so the meat is easier to slice.

6. Serve with beef gravy, if desired. You can also serve the beef roast with horseradish sauce.
