Make A Party Sandwich

Create a party sandwich to feed a crowd.

Are you entertaining a crowd? Trying to provide food for a large group is challenging. You can have the party catered, but that can be expensive. If the event is informal, you can serve sandwiches, which means a large party sandwich may be the solution you are looking for. This sandwich can feed 24 and it can be prepared in a minimal amount of time. Sandwiches should be fresh, not soggy. Preparing the vegetables for the sandwich in advance allows you to build the sandwich quickly on the day of your party.

Instructions

Preparation

1. Shred the iceberg lettuce with a sharp knife. Slice the tomatoes, onions and green peppers into thin slices. Arrange all vegetables in large bowls on your work space.

2. Place pickles and sliced black olives in bowls on your work space.

3. Lay out cold cuts and cheese slices.

Assembling the Sandwich

4. Place the bread on a long board on a table or counter. You may be able to get a board to use from the deli or bakery where you buy the bread.

Cut the bread in half with a long serrated knife. It helps to have someone hold the bread as you cut it.

5. Spread one half of the bread with mayonnaise and the other half with mustard.

6. Lay the sandwich meats on the bottom half of the bread. Place the cheese slices on top of the meats.

7. Add the vegetables in layers over the meats and cheese. Top with pickles and black olive slices. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and oregano.

8. Place the top of the bread on the sandwich. Hold the sandwich together with long toothpicks. Slice into 24 to 30 slices.

9. Serve the sandwich with your choice of salads and chips.
