Make A Strawberry Daquiri

Strawberry daiquiris are the perfect frozen drink for the summer. With some fruit, ice, sugar and alcohol, you can make one at home. If you take the alcohol out, you can make a virgin daiquiri.

Instructions

1. Get all of your items together. Making a strawberry daiquiri is pretty simple, but if you don’t have everything you need out and ready, it can be more tedious than it really should be. Make sure you have frozen strawberries, fresh strawberries, light rum, triple sec, lemon juice, table sugar and 1 cup of water out.

2. Puree the fruits and liquor. Get your blender ready and add 2 1/2 cups of frozen strawberries. Mix in 4 ounces of your favorite light rum and 4 ounces of triple sec. Blend for approximately a minute. Add about 3 ounces of lemon juice. Blend for 30 seconds. If the mixture is too thick and it won’t blend, slowly add 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water, or if you’re up for it, add more liquor.

3. Add the sugar. Once the alcohol and strawberries have been blended together, you want to add about 1/8 cup of white granulated sugar. Blend for about 1 minute. You want to make sure the sugar is dissolved. Otherwise, it will give your daiquiri a grainy texture.

4. Do the taste test. Once you have blended the majority of the ingredients, taste your daiquiri. Decide whether or not you need any more of the ingredients. Often times, you may decide you want to add more sugar, more strawberries or even more alcohol. Keep in mind that, at this point, you want the mixture to be very strong. Don’t make it bland, because once you add the ice, it will tone down the flavor of the drink. A good rule of thumb is the stronger the better. If it’s too strong, you can always tone it down with a little ice in the end.

5. Add approximately 3 cups of ice to the strawberry daiquiri mixture. Continue blending for about 1 minute. If the mixture is too thick, continue to blend it. This will cause it to melt a little bit. Once the daiquiri is finished, pour into glasses and serve. Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a fresh strawberry. If there is any extra, keep it in the freezer to keep it cool. Enjoy!
