Test Pico Fuses

Pico fuses are important for a good television picture.

Pico fuses are found in televisions. If your television has convergence problems then you should test the pico fuses. A TV contains three projectors. In order to get a clear picture all projectors must be in sync. Signs of bad convergence include a blurry picture or colors that do not mesh. It is difficult to check these fuses because they are small and positioned close together. The main difficulty is finding a spot to clamp the multimeter leads.

Instructions

1. Locate the pico fuses in your television. Normally the pico fuses are yellow and look like very small resistors.

2. Remove the pico fuse from its place. Insert the pico fuse into the fuse extension leads. With the leads attached, insert the pico fuse back into place.

3. Connect one lead of a multimeter to each extension lead. You can find the amount of voltage needed for the fuses on the sides of the fuses or in your television's manual. Set the multimeter to the correct voltage and check for continuity. If the reading is low then your fuses are fine. If the reading is very high then the fuses are broken and must be replaced.
