Cook Oat Groats In A Pressure Cooker

Oat groats are packed with nutritional value.

Oat groats are the harvested "as-is" variety of of oats. They are untreated, natural hulled oats. They come straight from the field to the table with no processing in between. They contain high-quality protein, seven B vitamins, calcium, fiber and unsaturated fats. They are primarily used as animal feed though health food stores often carry oat groats for human consumption because of their high nutritional value. Oat groats take a long time to cook, but you can cut the time in half by preparing them in a pressure cooker.

Instructions

1. Pour 1 cup of water in a pressure cooker. Add 3 cups of oat groats. This will make a good-size batch that can be stored in the refrigerator and heated the next day.

2. Bring to pressure. Cook for one hour. This will slightly caramelize the oat groats at the bottom of the pressure cooker.

3. Release pressure as directed by the manufacturer of your pressure cooker.
