Eat Soup

Here's your first hint: don't drink your soup directly from the bowl. You never want to eat soup at a lunch with your boss or at dinner with your fiance's parents the same way you eat it at home in front of the TV. Instead, start by eating it backwards as explained in the following steps.

Instructions

1. Leave your soup bowl on the plate. The plate serves as a place to put your spoon when you're not using it and catches any soup that might slosh over the rim of the bowl.

2. Sit back in your chair and lean forward at the hips so your mouth is over the bowl. Any soup that drips from the spoon will land back in the bowl instead of the front of your shirt. Don't, however, hunch over your bowl; sit up straight and bring the spoon up to your mouth.

3. Let your soup cool by stirring it gently or simply waiting patiently. Never blow on a spoonful of soup to cool it. Definitely do not lean over and blow on soup in the bowl.

4. Fill your soup spoon by placing it in the bowl and moving it away from you. If you slosh any soup out of the bowl, it won't fall on your lap. Gently remove any drips from the bottom of your spoon by touching it to the bowl's rim before raising it to your mouth.

5. Sip your soup from the side of the spoon quietly unless it has noodles, vegetables or bits of meat in it. If it does, place the entire spoon in your mouth.
