Make A Soda Bottle Salt & Pepper Shaker

Your guests will enjoy the whimsy of soda bottle salt and pepper shakers.

When you visit certain restaurants, you may have noticed that the salt and pepper shakers are actually glass bottles that have been altered to accommodate salt and pepper. If you want to put out these whimsical shakers during your family dinners, you can make your own handmade soda bottle salt and pepper shakers using glass bottles that may have otherwise been recycled or thrown away. Once the shakers are complete, you can fill them with salt and pepper and use them as you would an ordinary pair of shakers.

Instructions

1. Wash out a couple of glass soda bottles and allow them to dry out completely.

2. Take the lids off of the soda bottles and place the lids onto a table top.

3. Hammer holes into the top of each lid using a tack. Poke four holes into one lid and six holes into the other lid.

4. Fill one bottle halfway up with salt and the other bottle halfway up with pepper.

5. Screw the lid with four holes onto the pepper bottle and the lid with six holes onto the salt bottle.
