Make Strawberry Jello Cake

Cool, refreshing Strawberry Jell-O Cake

If you are in a dessert rut or just crave something sweet, a strawberry Jell-O cake is a flavorful recipe to serve the whole family. It combines your favorite cake flavor with a jiggly Jell-O filling for a treat that has been long enjoyed by adults and kid alike. Jell-O has been used for years with fruits and desserts; this tasty, and unique cake can be served at parties, weddings or summer barbeques. It's a quick recipe that requires little effort and money.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Empty the cake mix, three eggs, 1/3 cup of oil and 1/4 cup of water into a large mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer on high for two minutes.

2. Bake the cake for 25-30 minutes on 350 degrees. Prick with a toothpick or fork after 20 minutes to make sure the cake is cooking thoroughly. When the time is up, remove the cake from the oven and poke holes all over the cake big enough for the Jell-O to sink in and absorb.

3. Mix the Jell-O package with one cup of boiling water in a medium mixing bowl with a spoon until it's dissolved.

4. Pour the Jell-O mixture all over the cake and refrigerate for at least three hours. The cake should be set by that time. Remove the cake from the refrigerator and cover it with one cup of whipped cream. If using two round cakes, layer them on top of one another. The middle layer should be full of whipped cream, while the top layer should be frosting with the icing flavor of your choice. For extra flavor, chop up an average-size carton of fresh strawberries (about 15-20 berries) and place thin slices in both the middle layer and on top.
