Make Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Cabbage rolls anyone? This recipe makes a great main dish. It adds variety to your meal plan and is fairly economical. It meets two of the four basic food groups with a vegetable and meat all rolled up into one. If you like cabbage, you'll enjoy preparing this meal. But, more importantly, you will enjoy serving it and "chowing down."

Instructions

Make Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

1. Cut the larger leaves off of the cabbage and boil in a pot until just limp, but not over-cooked. Drain and set aside.

2. In a larger pot, boil the remaining cabbage about 15 -20 minutes. Drain all but two cups of the boiled water from cabbage.

3. Add can of tomato sauce and spices. Stir. Simmer on low heat.

4. In bowl, mix together eggs, meats, garlic, onion, salt, and rice.

5. Return to cabbage leaves and stuff leaves with meat mixture. Wrap cabbage rolls and fasten with toothpicks.

6. Place rolls in simmering sauce and continue simmering for 30 minutes or until rice is tender and meat is cooked. Serve.
