Sour Cream Ambrosia Fruit Salad

There are numerous ways to make ambrosia fruit salad. Recipes call for different varieties of fruit that can include bananas, strawberries, grapes and dates. What separates ambrosia from traditional fruit salads is the use of coconut and nondairy whipped cream. When you add sour cream to the recipe, it helps cut the sweetness of the whipped cream and the fruit.

Instructions

1. Drain two jars of maraschino cherries by opening the lid, holding the lid against the top of the jar with one finger and tilting the jar so the juice drains out.

2. Pour the cherries into a large mixing bowl.

3. Drain two cans of mandarin oranges and two cans of pineapple chunks by opening the cans with a can opener, pressing the lid against the top of cans and tilting the cans to drain the juice.
