Sweet & Sour Sauce For Stir Fry

Use homemade sweet and sour sauce in your stir-fry or as a dipping sauce.

The combination of sweet, tangy and spicy flavors makes sweet and sour sauce a quick and easy solution to a stir-fry dish lacking in flavor. Instead of purchasing pre-made sweet and sour sauce, consider making your own to use in your stir-fry dish. Making your own sauce allows you to control factors such as the salt content, and tweak the ingredients to create a sauce that includes the perfect blend of flavors and spices.

Instructions

1. Pour the vegetable oil into the saucepan. Heat the pan over medium-high heat until hot.

2. Add the onions to the pan and stir until they are softened. Add the ginger and stir the mixture for an additional 30 seconds.

3. Stir the pineapple, vinegar, ketchup, chili garlic sauce and sugar into the pan. Bring the pan to a simmer. Continue stirring and allow the ingredients to cook for three minutes.

4. Combine the broth and cornstarch in the small bowl. Whisk the mixture until it becomes smooth. Pour the mixture into the saucepan and bring the pan to a boil.

5. Cook for an additional minute, then remove the pan from the heat. Use the sauce in your stir-fry recipe as directed.
