Make Dough Balls For Fishing Using Corn Meal

Cornmeal is a type of flour that is made by grinding up dried sweet corn. Cornmeal is commonly used in the making of dough balls. As the name implies, dough balls are just small balls of dough that are used as bait to catch carp and catfish. Dough balls are very easy to make and can be made from simple ingredients found right in your own kitchen.

Instructions

1. Fill a pot about halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Boil 1 cup water and the sugar in a separate, small saucepan.

2. Turn the heat under both pans of water to low. Add the cornmeal and flour to the small saucepan containing the sugar and water. Mix with the wire whisk until well blended. Continue to stir the mixture for 5 minutes.

3. Cover the small saucepan and set it in the larger pot of water, like a double boiler. Cook the mixture in the large pot for 30 minutes. Remove the small saucepan from the pot and let the mixture cool slightly. Add flour if the mixture seems too runny or water if it seems too think; the idea is to make it into a dough.

4. Let the dough sit until completely cool. Divide the dough into five equal parts and wrap each part in plastic wrap. Keep the dough balls in the freezer until you are ready to go fishing.

5. When fishing, pinch off a piece of dough and roll it into a ball to use as bait.
