What Are Salad Shooters

Salad Shooters slice, shred and shoot vegetables directly into the salad bowl.

Salad Shooters are products made to slice and shred fruits, nuts, vegetables and cheeses. The products are made by National Presto Industries. The Salad Shooter electronically shreds and slices fruits, vegetable and cheeses and aids in making dishes, such as salads, soups, pizza, tacos and desserts. According to the manufacturer, the product is easy to use and clean as all parts are dishwasher safe and it is compact for easy storage. Use the product to point and shoot the sliced foods right where you want them.

Salads

The Salad Shooter, as the name implies, slices, chops and shoots lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, onions and any other vegetable you prefer, directly into a salad bowl. The shooter saves time and eases clean up because there is no need for a cutting board, grater, knife or extra bowls. There are two types: an original and a professional model. The professional model offers larger capacity and more power than the original.

Make Toppings

The Salad Shooter chops nuts, such as pecan, almonds, walnuts, cashews, macadamia and filberts to create dessert toppings. Add the nuts to the product and use the shredding cone accessory to shoot nut topping directly onto desserts or shoot them into a bowl to spoon on ice cream. Make candy toppings using either the slicing or shredding come accessories. Candy bars, chocolate chips, coconut and M&Ms can all be cut into pieces for topping desserts.

Make Bread Crumbs and Crusts

With the Salad Shooter, you can place a few slices of bread in the machine to create bread crumbs. The crumbs can be shot right into the bowl of ingredients, but if a certain measure is required it is advisable to measure them first. Graham crackers placed in the product are made into fine crumbles for pie crusts. One advantage to using the Salad Shooter is that you can choose different flavors of graham crackers, such as chocolate or cinnamon, to add more flavor to pies.

Shred Cheeses

Instead of using old-fashioned cheese graters, the Salad Shooter boasts it can shred cheeses fast and even works better on hard cheeses that are usually hard to grate. Putting cheeses through two shredding cycles produces powdery cheese. For soft cheeses, the manufacturer recommends placing the cheese wedge in the freezer for one to two hours before shredding, and then shoot directly on dishes.
