Popcorn and jello may sound like an odd combination, but these two ingredients are the basis of many recipes that you can make for your family. Whether it's for a birthday party, a summer celebration or a Christmas get-together, a variation of this recipe will fit your occasion.
The Basic Recipe
Pop 1 1/2 cups popcorn, preferably in an air popper, and set aside. Mix together in a heavy saucepan 1 cup sugar, 1 cup light corn syrup and 1 small box of gelatin mix. Stir and cook until it's at a full boil. Remove from the heat, and pour over the popcorn. Mix the popcorn until it's thoroughly coated with the gelatin mixture.

Make the basic recipe using blue raspberry gelatin. After the popcorn and syrup have been mixed, add 1 cup red hot candies. Butter your hands, and form the popcorn into baseball-size balls. Set them on a greased cookie sheet, and allow to slightly harden.
Birthday Confetti Munch
Make the basic recipe using white grape gelatin mix. After completely coated, mix in 1 cup miniature M&Ms. Spread the popcorn onto a buttered cookie sheet, and allow to dry for 30 minutes. Break up into pieces, and store in plastic bags.
Christmas Party Balls
This recipe makes a big batch for a large holiday gathering. Make three batches of the basic mix, one with strawberry gelatin, one with lime and one with white grape. Butter your hands, and make small popcorn balls about the size of golf balls. Pile the balls in a large serving bowl and serve.
Monster Brains
This recipe is suitable for a Halloween party or a birthday party for a child who loves monsters. Make the basic recipe using lime gelatin. When thoroughly mixed, add 1 cup gummy worms. Butter your hands, and make baseball-size balls, allowing some of the worms to straggle and hang out of the balls.
