Make Enchilada Sauce Quick And Easy

Make your own enchilada sauce.

Delicious enchiladas are quick and simple, even if you make your own sauce. This recipe is a simplified version of one from a great Mexican cook and can be made in two minutes or less. It costs only pennies to make and uses ingredients in almost any pantry. The amount of chili powder you use will determine the taste. Use a powder that is as hot as you like, and you can increase the powder to 3 tablespoons if desired. The recipe is easy to double or triple if you want to make extra to have on hand.

Instructions

1. Put 1 teaspoon olive oil in a mixing bowl. Add 2 tablespoons chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon pepper and 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder.

2. Measure 1 cup of water. Add about 1/4 cup of the water to the mixing bowl and blend with a fork.

3. Add the rest of the water and mix briskly.

4. Add the sauce to your fillings and pour over rolled enchiladas to bake in the oven. If you wish to pour the sauce over hot enchiladas, heat it in the microwave in a microwave-safe container first.
