You can cook your bacon by using several techniques.
Some people like their bacon slightly burned, while others prefer a bit of fat left after cooking. Bacon is a fatty cut of meat, but it's flavorful. Not all bacon is from a pig. In fact, vegetarian and turkey bacon are available. Some people choose bacon that is low in sodium, but whatever bacon you choose, the same cooking techniques works for all.
Oven
The key to cooking great bacon in the oven is cooking the meat evenly. Do this by layering the bacon onto a baking sheet by putting the 1/8 of an inch of the meaty part of the bacon onto the fatty part. As the meat cooks, the fat with render and the meat will absorb its flavor. Once the meat starts to brown on the sides, about 10 minutes in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven, flip it over and cook the other side for about 4 minutes.
Frying Pan
Cooking bacon in a frying pan can be a bit more difficult than in an oven if you need to cook many pieces. This is because the sides of the frying pan are rounded, making it difficult to lay all the pieces flat. However, cooking in a frying pan can be the preferred option if you have the space and are cooking other ingredients in the pan. Using the bacon fat that is leftover after the meat is done cooking will allow you to fry other items such as eggs and hashbrowns.
Slanted Grill
For the most lean results, cook the bacon on a slanted grill. The grill cooks from the top and bottom because it can be closed. The slant allows most of the rendered fat to drain into a catch tray. While the meat won't have a chance to slowly cook in its own fat and absorb the flavor, a slanted grill is an ideal solution to those looking to cut down fat and cook quickly.
Microwave
Microwaving the bacon is the quickest method. To get the best results, you'll need a microwavable bacon dish. These are plastic dishes that have T-shaped prongs sticking out of them. You fold the bacon over each side of the T so that it is dangling. Place a paper towel over top to absorb the evaporated fat to keep your microwave clean. The fat will drain off when the bacon is in the microwave and you'll be left with crisp pieces.
