A 1 pound bread machine is the smallest available bread machine on the market. It is useful for making a loaf of bread that is similar in size to the average loaf of bread purchased at the store. The most common size bread machine is a 1 1/2 pound bread machine, but you can easily convert recipes for a 1 pound machine with a little simple math. Instructions
1. Heat the water and milk in the microwave in 30 second intervals, taking the temperature at each stop until the mixture reaches 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
2. Lift the lid of the bread machine, remove the bread pan and insert the dough paddle. Replace the bread pan and pour the water and milk into the bread pan.
3. Add the butter, salt, flour, sugar and yeast, in that order, to the bread pan.
4. Close the lid of the bread machine and choose the preferred color of crust, if your bread machine has this option. Press the button for white bread if your bread machine has one; if not, press the start button. The bread machine will begin to mix the bread for about two minutes, allow the bread to rest for about fifteen minutes and then knead the bread for about five minutes. The bread is then allowed to rise and bake. There is no need to do anything once you have pressed start until the bread is finished baking. Pauses in the cycle are normal.
5. Lift the lid of the bread machine when the bread machine is finished baking the bread. Allow the bread to cool with the lid opened for 30 minutes.
6. Lift the bread pan out of the machine with an oven mitt and invert the pan onto a plate or platter to release the bread from the pan. Slice the loaf of bread with a serrated bread knife and wrap securely to retain moisture.
