Use Beer For Marinade

Beer makes an appropriate marinade for a variety of foods.

Beer has long been a favorite secret ingredient for home cooks and master chefs. Lagers and ales are loved in things like beer-battered fish and beer-can chicken. Since beer imparts a distinct flavor and its crisp bitterness goes well with many foods, it makes a nice marinade. The only problem is that marinades are dependent on acidity to tenderize the meat. If you mix in something with acidity, you will have an appropriate marinade, as evidenced when cooking chicken marinated in amber ale. Almost any meat can benefit from a beer marinade.

Instructions

1. Pierce your chicken thighs with a fork on both sides. Jab the fork into every thigh five to 10 times on each side.

2. Mix together all your marinade ingredients (12 oz. bottle of amber beer, 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. pepper, 1 Tbsp. brown sugar, 1-3 lbs of chicken thighs) in a plastic zip-close bag two hours before you are ready to start cooking.

3. Seal the zip-close bag closed, so that most of the air is pushed out. Place the bag in a large bowl in case it leaks.

4. Marinate chicken mixture for two hours in the refrigerator.

5. Heat your BBQ grill to medium heat.

6. Place your chicken on the grill. Flip chicken after about 10 minutes with your grill tongs. Cook chicken to 165 degrees to ensure safe consumption, use a cooking thermometer to check.
