Brew Perfect Thai Tea

Thai tea, either hot or iced, is becoming quite popular in the United States, but you do not need to visit your favorite Thai restaurant to enjoy a perfect cup of tea. With the right ingredients and some very simple steps, you can make a delicious cup of Thai tea in your own kitchen.

Instructions

1. Place a gallon of water in a sauce pan and heat until it just begins to boil. Do not allow the water to come to a rolling boil or it will scorch the tea and cause it to taste bitter. Once the water is ready, turn off the heat.

2. Add 3/4 of a cup of loose Thai tea to the pot, stir the leaves in and cover. Allow the tea to steep until the leaves begin to settle at the bottom of the pot.

3. Pour the brewed tea carefully through a strainer into a pitcher or large glass jar and then discard the tea leaves. You can now enjoy a warm cup of tea or place the tea in the refrigerator for Thai iced tea.

4. Make the perfect cup of Thai tea by filling a mug about three quarters of the way with your brewed tea and topping off the mug with coconut milk. If enjoying your tea warm, it is a good idea to warm the coconut milk slightly as well. If drinking cold, be sure to add a few ice cubes.
