Diy Stemware Rack

Build and install a stemware rack to keep your glasses always on hand.

If you're short on cabinet storage space, want to show off a tasteful collection of stemware or just drink and entertain frequently, you've probably considered purchasing a stemware rack. Consider creating one yourself, which not only saves money for other kitchen elements or a great bottle of wine, but also allows you to customize the size, color and glass capacity of your rack.

Instructions

1. Mark 3-inch increments down the length of one edge of your purchased shelf.

2. Draw 5-inch long perpendicular lines extending from the marks you just made.

3. Draw parallel lines 3/4-inches away from the last lines you drew.

4. Cut down each line. Use your router or drill to create rounded ends of the cut-outs.

5. Sand and paint or stain your shelf. Paint the brackets to match, if matching brackets are desired.

6. Install your brackets into a stud-backed wall, using wood screws. Place your shelf on top of the brackets. Check the evenness of your bracket installation with the level.

7. Screw the shelf to the brackets using the screws that came with the brackets.

8. Place wine glass stems inside the rack, upside-down.
