Fruit Dip Made With Yogurt

Fruit Dip

A dip made with yogurt is an excellent companion to fruit. It is also a good way to entice children into eating a healthy snack. One cup of yogurt supplies approximately 9 g of protein according to the Michigan Dairy Review. Another good yogurt option is Greek yogurt. It is thicker than the yogurt traditionally available in the United States and has twice the protein content. Use either type of yogurt in the fruit dip recipes listed here.

Lemon Yogurt Fruit Dip

Combine 3/4 cup plain yogurt, 1 tbsp. fresh lemon juice and 2 tbsp. sugar in a bowl. The fresh lemon flavor of this dip complements almost any kind of fruit. Select the fat content of the yogurt according to personal preferences. Use full-fat yogurt for small children or fat-free for adults who are on a diet.

Cinnamon Yogurt Fruit Dip

Mix together 1 cup plain yogurt, 1/4 cup shredded coconut and 1/4 cup finely chopped nuts in a bowl. In a separate bowl mix together 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon with 2 tbsp. sugar. Add this to the yogurt mixture and stir to blend. Chill to let the flavors combine before serving. This dip is particularly good with strawberries, bananas and cherries. Try substituting nutmeg for the cinnamon in this recipe for a delicious change.

Orange Yogurt Fruit Dip

Beat 8 oz. cream cheese with a mixer until fluffy. Continue beating and add in 1 cup orange yogurt. Stir in 1 tsp. grated orange peel and 1/4 cup sugar. Cover and chill in the refrigerator before serving. Try this dip with mango, papaya, banana or apples. If orange yogurt is not available, substitute orange/mango or another citrus flavor yogurt such as key lime or lemon.

Fluffy Yogurt Fruit Dip

Thaw one container of frozen whipped topping. Either regular or fat free will work. Place it into a bowl and stir in 1 cup flavored yogurt of your choice. The possibilities are endless with this recipe. Try vanilla yogurt for a dip that goes with everything. Coconut yogurt goes with many different fruits as well. Strawberry makes a good dip and so does blueberry.

Ginger Yogurt Fruit Dip

Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. The fresh ginger in this recipe will bring out the flavor of almost any fruit.
