Buy Muscat De Frontignan Wine

Muscat de Frontignan is the old French name for a famous, elite wine of the muscat grape varietal. Grown in one of the largest and richest regions of Languedoc, Muscat de Frontignan, otherwise called Muscat blanc, has a silky, subtle taste that accounts for its status as a luxury wine. Follow these steps to buy Muscat de Frontignan.

Instructions

1. Familiarize yourself with the varietal. Muscat de Frontignan is a specific grape varietal that is grown exclusively in the Frontignan region of Languedoc. The taste is distinctive and the wine is expensive. Accordingly, you should know the celebrated flavors and tastes of the wine so you can appreciate it properly and ensure that you're getting the real deal.

2. Ensure the authenticity. Like all French wines, a strict code governs the naming of the Muscat de Frontignan. The wine's grapes must of the Muscar de Frontignan (or Muscat blanc) varietal and the wine must be produced in one of the villages of Frontignan or Vic-la-Gardiole. The bottle should say "appellation de origine controle" and must name the village that the bottle was produced in.

3. Look for similar names. You might be perplexed by a search for a bottle of Muscat de Frontignan. However, as you set out to buy a bottle or case of the muscat, keep your eyes open for variations on the wine's name. Local and international dealers refer to the Frontignan as Muscat Blanc a Petit Grains, Muscat Blanc, Muscat Bianco and a host of other specialty names. Speak with the wine seller before you buy the bottle to verify the name.

4. Pick a vineyard. A number of different wine makers produce excellent vintages of Muscat de Frontignan. Try a well known Frontingan producer such as Saronsberg. As always, speak with your wine seller, do some checking up in magazine or contact the vineyard about good vintages. Also, try online wine specialty outlets such as Ewine.co.za that regularly carry Muscat de Frontignan.
