Know How Long It Takes To Bake Pork Chops

Check the pork chop's thickness when calculating cooking times.

Homemakers may have food-safety concerns when baking pork chops. Although the diseases associated with undercooked pork have decreased due to better health standards and meat inspections, you still need to follow protocols to determine how long they should cook in the oven.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Cook the meat in a shallow pan for 35 to 50 minutes, giving more time to thicker chops. You may need to add five additional minutes for breaded pork chops.

2. Check the internal temperature of the pork chops when you think they are done. If you have a meat thermometer, cook to an internal temperature of 145 degrees. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's website advises that this is the minimum temperature to ensure safety.

3. Check the color of the meat. Contrary to popular belief, it is normal for pork chops to have a little bit of pink. It is done if the internal color is white with traces of pink in the center.

4. Check the juices. If your juice is running clear, the chops should be done
