Pecans are delicious but can leave stubborn stains.
Pecans may taste delicious, but the stains they leave behind can be difficult to remove. The sap and oils from these nuts can stain anything -- from your hands to your clothing, to the concrete on your patio or driveway. With a few simple tricks, you can remove pecan stains from your skin and your belongings.
Instructions
Hands
1. Wash your hands with a strong cleaner. Scrub gently with a soft scrub brush if needed -- the tannins in pecans may stain your hands through more than one layer of skin. The Louisiana State University Agricultural Center suggests using Lava soap or Comet cleanser.
2. Put some dirt in a bucket. Plunge your hands into it. Rub the dirt into your hands, focusing on the stained areas.

4. Repeat the steps above every day until the stains diminish.
Clothing
5. Soak your clothing in 5 cups of white vinegar. Add 3 tbsp. baking soda. Let it sit for an hour.
6. Rub a stain remover into the stained areas of your clothing. Rub the stain thoroughly to remove the tannins, which also leave stubborn stains in fabric.
7. Wash your clothing wiht a color-safe bleach.
8. Repeat the process in Steps 1 through 3 if the stain does not lift.
Concrete
9. Fill a bucket with one part bleach and two parts water. Let the mixture sit for 15 minutes.
10. Pour the bleach and water over the stained areas of concrete. Allow the liquid to soak into the concrete for 30 minutes.
11. Scrub the stains with a scrub brush, using force as you scrub.
12. Rinse off the stained areas with a high-pressure hose.
13. Repeat this process until the stains have lifted.
