Make A Bleeding Heart Cake

With its dramatic, oozing bloody interior, this novelty cake is appropriate for many occasions. Serve it at your next Halloween party, or carve out a slice or two for guests at a horror movie night. This might even be a funny cake to serve at a Valentine's Day dinner. Depending on the ingredients you use, this novelty cake can be as tasty as it is entertaining. Read on to learn more.


Instructions


Prepare the Cake


1. Spray a heart-shaped cake pan with cooking spray.


2. Prepare the cake according to the directions on the package. Add red food coloring to the batter to make it as red as possible.


3. Pour the cake batter into the heart-shaped pan. Bake the cake according to the package directions.


4. Let the cake cool. Remove it from the pan.


5. Use the cake knife to carefully cut the cake into two horizontal layers. Make the lower layer significantly thicker than the top layer. Put the top layer aside.








6. Hollow out the bottom layer of the cake, leaving only a 1-inch-thick "wall" on the bottom and sides. Put this layer on the large serving plate.

7. Blend the raspberries and sugar in the blender until completely smooth. This will be the "blood."


8. Pour the raspberry puree into the hollowed-out bottom layer of the cake.


9. Rest the top layer of the cake on the bottom layer, completely covering the raspberry filling.

10. Stir red food coloring into the frosting until the frosting turns as red as possible.


11. Frost the cake, being careful to cover its entire surface. Be sure to completely cover the seam between the top and bottom layers with frosting.


12. Serve the funny cake to your unsuspecting guests.


13. Slice the bleeding heart cake with an enormous butcher knife and watch the "blood" ooze from the gash you have made. Cackle demonically, if the situation allows.
