Cook Butternut Squash In A Microwave

Cook Butternut Squash in a Microwave

Butternut squash is known for its smooth, buttery taste and firm texture. Not sure what to do with yours? Microwaving your butternut squash is a simple, quick, and delicious way to prepare it.

Instructions

1. Wash the squash in cool running water and pat dry. Use a knife to pierce several holes in the squash (this allows the steam to escape and keeps the squash from exploding in the microwave).

2. Place the butternut squash in a large microwavable shallow dish, and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Remove the dish from the microwave. The squash should feel warm.

3. Use a large knife to cut the squash in half. Spoon out the seeds and discard.

4. Place the squash, cut side down, back in the dish and microwave for 5 more minutes. The squash's flesh should feel tender.

5. Leave it in the microwave to stand for another 5 minutes.

6. The squash is now fully cooked. The soft flesh can be served mashed with butter and salt, or as a part of your favorite recipe.
