Creative Ways To Eat Leftover Chili

Get creative to enjoy your chili leftovers.

There's nothing like a home-cooked batch of chili, but if you've made more than you need, leftovers can get old. Instead of tossing it, repurpose the chili to enjoy in other ways. You can use chili as a topping, turn it into a side dish, or create a whole new meal. Make the chili into a different dish each night until you've finished if off.

Sloppy Joes

Turn your leftover chili into sloppy joe sandwiches. Although sloppy joes do not typically include beans, you can still enjoy chili on a sandwich for a change of pace. Spoon it onto a burger bun and eat as is, or make it sweeter like traditional sloppy joes by adding brown sugar and barbecue sauce.

Chili Spaghetti

Cook some spaghetti and heat the chili, adding a little water to thin it out. The addition of beans makes a hearty, filling dish. Serve as you would regular spaghetti, or place the spaghetti and chili in a baking dish, top with cheese and bake into a casserole.

Chili and Mexican Dishes

Heat up the chili and spoon it over a tray of warm nachos -- perfect for a game-night party. Add chili to burritos or enchiladas instead of refried beans or salsa. Try adding chili onto cheese quesadillas, or spoon it into tacos and over taco salad.

Chili Mac and Cheese

Prepare macaroni and cheese as normal, then mix in the chili until thoroughly combined. Top with breadcrumbs and extra cheese and bake as usual.

Chili Dogs

Heat up the chili and spoon it onto a hot dog.

Dip

Make chili-cheese dip for a party by adding cubed Velveeta to the chili and heating until fully melted. You can also use cream cheese for a different flavor. Serve with nachos that hold up to the heaviness of the dip.
