Buy Xanthan Gum
For those suffering from Celiac disease or another wheat and dairy allergy, certain modifications must be made in the kitchen. Many gluten-free recipes call for Xanthan Gum, a binding agent used in baking. As a specialty item, it can be a little difficult to find.
Instructions
1. Shop around and compare prices. Xanthan gum is expensive. Luckily, one package can last a long time.
2. Go to a health food or organic food store. Establishments such as GNC and Whole Foods often carry Xanthan Gum.
3. Try a larger grocery store chain, which may stock Xanthan Gum in its health food or gluten-free sections.
4. Order through an online retailer specializing in gluten-free products, such as glutenfree.com (see Resources).
5. Search eBay. You may be able to find deals on Xanthan Gum there. Buying from eBay can be a risk. Remember to look over the seller's reviews before purchasing, and check the package very thoroughly for tampering before using.
