Create A Picnic Kit

A picnic is always fun, especially when it happens spur of the moment. Assemble a picnic kit and keep it stocked, and you'll be ready for a picnic on short notice. Throw together some sandwiches or grab a bucket of chicken, then head off to a scenic park, the beach or even the backyard.

Instructions

1. Include utensils and plates for four. Choose flatware sets that include a spoon, knife and fork that lay flat against one another or lock in place. Select colorful dinner plates of durable material that hold up under a knife.

2. Make a picnic tool kit that include a corkscrew, a sharp knife and a bottle or can opener. Include a multi-purpose Swiss Army knife. Gather small packets of salt, pepper, sugar, sugar substitute, catsup, mustard and other condiments. Put them in a resealable bag.

3. Add a package of dinner napkins and roll of paper towels. Include a sealable container of wet wipes. Collect insect repellent, lip balm, sunscreen and adhesive bandages in a plastic bag.

4. Have on hand bottled water and juice boxes. Include ready-to-eat foods like peanuts, granola bars, energy bars, raisins, peanut butter crackers and dried fruit.

5. Keep a few books or small boxes of matches in a small plastic bag. Include a few small tealights or citronella candles.

6. Pack a Frisbee, a disposable camera, playing cards, squirt guns. Purchase a game that is reserved for picnics.

7. Keep everything together in a large basket, preferably with a lid and handles. Reserve the contents of the basket for picnics only.
