Effects Of Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a product made from fermented apple cider (which is in itself fermented apple juice). This type of vinegar has been lauded for its health benefits since Hippocrates first began using it in 400 BC. Apple cider vinegar can be purchased both from grocery stores as well as natural health food stores and has many purported benefits. Unpasteurized apple cider vinegar made from organic apples is thought to be the best quality for use in home remedies.


Diabetes


A few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar each day has been proven to help lower the blood glucose levels of diabetic patients.








Weight Loss


Vinegar is thought to be an appetite suppressant, and some believe that taking up to three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before each meal can assist with weight loss.


Dandruff


One part apple cider vinegar mixed with an equal part water can be applied to the scalp and left to soak for 15 minutes to try and decrease dryness.


High Cholesterol


Promising studies performed on rats indicate that apple cider vinegar may help lower cholesterol, but these tests have yet to be performed on humans.


Blood Pressure


Some studies have linked vinegar with lowered blood pressure. However, this has not been conclusively proven.


Warning


Apple cider vinegar can lower potassium levels and react negatively with some medications, especially those for diabetes. Always consult a doctor before starting a regular apple cider vinegar regimen.
