Restore A Hair Brush

Restoring hair brushes to the cleanest condition possible will result in healthier hair.

Even the best quality hair brush can become your hair's worst enemy if it's not maintained and kept clean. Sticky styling products and the natural oils from your scalp can combine to form a gooey mess that causes brushes to pull and break your hair. These dirty brushes can also re-distribute this nasty buildup to freshly washed hair, causing it to quickly look dirty again. Clean hair brushes regularly to restore them to peak performance.

Instructions

Plastic and Synthetic Hair Brushes

1. Run a wide-toothed comb through the brush to remove built-up hair.

2. Place a dime-sized amount of mild shampoo on the brush and use fingers or another brush to work it into a lather.

3. Use a cotton swab to clean between bristles, rubbing the tip on the brush surface.

4. Rinse thoroughly.

5. Fill a sink or bowl with warm water and add 1/2 cup of baking soda. Place the hair brush in this solution for 15 minutes to remove any remaining buildup.

6. Rinse the brush again and place it on a towel to dry.
