Pistachio nuts are naturally green, not red.
California produces more than 300 million pounds of pistachios every year. The nutty, smooth flavor of this oval-shaped nut is good for cookies, cakes and even candies. To make a pistachio cake at home, add a pre-packaged mix to a plain white or yellow cake batter. Blending the powder mix and the batter together evenly will distribute the product and the taste, making a delicate confection. For a sweet, inviting dessert, pour the finished product into dressy little ramekins.
Instructions
1. Dump the cake mix in a large mixing bowl. Add the powder pudding mix to the bowl blending the two dry mixes together with a wire whisk.
2. Add the oil, water and milk to the bowl mixing them into the cake/pudding mix with a wooden spoon. Break the eggs and add them one at a time to the bowl. Mix well after each egg.
3. Top off the cake/pudding mix with three to four drops of green food coloring. Mix well with a hand held cake mixer.
4. Pour the cake batter into well greased baking dishes.
