Plant Chinese Cabbage

Chinese cabbage is more delicately flavored than regular cabbage.

Chinese cabbage is also known as celery cabbage and wong bok. It has a mild flavor similar to that of celery, and it produces thin, delicate leaves. The plants are similar in cultivation to regular cabbage, and growing them in a home garden is a straightforward procedure that requires only some basic knowledge of gardening.

Instructions

1. Select a location that has moist, well-drained soil. According to Harvest to Table, Chinese cabbage should be planted in full sun in cool regions and partial shade when it is grown in warmer regions.

2. Sow the Chinese cabbage seeds directly in the soil four to six weeks before the last frost date in the spring. Chinese cabbage is a cold-weather vegetable and requires the early cold.

3. Space the seeds 4 inches apart and place them approximately ½ inch into the ground. If you are growing more than one row, make sure that the rows are between 12 and 18 inches apart.

4. Water the soil to keep it evenly moist.
