Steam Yellow Squash In The Oven

Yellow squash is a high-moisture vegetable that lends itself easily to steaming. Steamed yellow squash is a tasty dish that works as a side dish to many different main proteins. Steaming squash in the oven is an easy way to cook squash, especially if you don't have very many kitchen utensils.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut a piece of aluminum foil into a long rectangular shape. The size will depend on how much yellow squash you have.

2. Slice the yellow squash into rounds about a half-inch thick. Place them in the center of the foil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper (to taste).

3. Pull the two long sides of the aluminum foil together and roll, as you would if you were closing a sandwich bag). Roll of each side of the foil so you end up with a foil packet. Make sure the ends are sealed tightly.

4. Place the packet on middle rack in the preheated oven. Bake the squash for 10 to 15 minutes, or until squash is tender.

5. Remove the squash from the oven. Carefully open the packet to release steam. Transfer the squash to a serving bowl, and pour any juices from the packet into the bowl with squash.
